How crystals + gemstones are used in healing

There are a range of different types of crystals that each have their own healing abilities for the mind, body, + soul.

Those that use crystals believe they promote the flow of good energy which helps rid the body + mind of negative energy to promote both physical + emotional benefits. Our mind + body are intrinsically linked so if there is an imbalance in your mind for example, it can manifest physically in your body.

Historically speaking, crystals have been used for centuries + the practice of crystal healing is ancient, dating back at least 6,000 years, being used by the Sumerians of Mesopotamia. Ancient Egyptians are also believed to be the first people to wear crystals in order to ward off negative energy + subsequently, illness.

Crystals + our chakras

Our chakras are points across our body that act as sort of energetic “organs” working with our physical, mental, + emotional needs. Our chakras influence + can be influenced by our experiences + actions, both positive + negative.

Over exposure to low vibrational frequencies, which can be things like traumatic events, increased stress, or neglecting self-care, can lead to our chakras becoming blocked or imbalance causing physical + mental pain.

When this happens, crystals can be used to lift the vibrations of our chakras, clearing them out + rebalancing them. This is because crystals have some of the highest vibrational frequencies on earth. Simply being around them can cause us to be attuned to their unique vibrations + with different crystals possessing different energetic properties, we can use them to heal our chakras.

Healing with crystals

Placing the relevant crystals on your body at the chakra points can help realign them + get positive energy flowing. The stones used + where they are positioned will be determined by the symptoms you have + how they relate to your chakras.

You can also use crystals during meditation practices or surround yourself with crystals during your day-to-day life. For example, putting crystals on your nightstand or under your pillow whilst you sleep, or keeping one on your desk as you work. Basically spots where you’ll be around them for a long period of time.

Caring for your crystals

When you first bring any crystals home, you’ll want to cleanse away any negativity it may have picked up. To do this you can either hold it under cold, running tap water or rinse it in a natural source of water. However, some crystals shouldn’t be placed under running water so please check before you do so! For those that can’t, you can cleanse them by placing them in the earth or by smudging, depending on their element. Burning sage close to your crystal is a fantastic way to get rid of any unwanted energies.

Leave your crystal to dry naturally, positioning it in either morning sunlight or moonlight. Charging your crystals under the light of a full moon enhances their performance + ensures you really get the most out of them!
